Recording of Official Public Records (OPR)
The Clerk’s office preserves all documents pertaining to real and personal property records, including
deeds, tax liens and UCCs. Also, we issue and preserve Vital Statistics including birth, death and marriage records.
Our office also registers and records Brands and Assumed Names/DBAs.
EXEMPTION FROM FEES FOR
MILITARY PERSONNEL BEING DEPLOYED. A member of the National Guard on federal active duty, or a member of the armed forces
of the United States on active duty, who is preparing to be deployed to serve in a hostile fire zone as designated by the
United States secretary of defense is exempt from paying the following state or local governmental fees the member incurs
because of the deployment to arrange the member's personal affairs:
fees for obtaining copies of:
a birth certificate; a recorded marriage license; a divorce decree; a child support order; guardianship documents; and property
tax records; fees for issuing a marriage license or duplicate marriage license; and fees for transferring title to real or
personal property.

Marriage Licenses
What you need to bring:
1.
$35.00 (cash or money order)
2.
Identification. Both bride and groom must bring identification. Accepted forms of identification include:

a certified copy of the applicant's birth certificate; or
- a certificate, license,
or document issued by this state, another state, the United States,
or a foreign government.
3.
Social Security Number. You need not bring your social security card, but you must know the number.
4. If you have
divorced.
- and your divorce was final within the last 30 days, you must bring a certified copy of your divorce decree
which states the thirty day waiting period has been waived.
- and you wish to use your maiden name on the license, you will
need to provide a certified copy of her birth certificate or a certified copy of her divorce decree that states her name is
to be changed to her maiden name.
Birth Certificates
What you need to bring:
1.
$22.00 (cash or money order)
2. Identification:
- a certificate, license, or
document issued by this state, another state, the United States,
or a foreign government.
Can be issued to:
1. the
requester asking for his/her own certificate.
2. OR,
is available to the public on and after the 75th anniversary of the date
of birth as shown on the record filed with this office.
Death Certificates
What you need to bring:
1.
$20.00 (cash or money order)
2. Identification:
- a certificate, license, or
document issued by this state, another state, the United States,
or a foreign government.
Can be issued to:
1. Immediate
family members if you live in Texas.
2. If
you live outside Texas, you must be a surviving spouse of the deceased, a
parent of the deceased or the funeral director of the funeral home on the
record.
3. OR,
is available to the public on and after the 25th anniversary of the date of
death
as shown on the record filed with this office.
The record being ordered must be delivered within the United States, to U.S. territories or
U.S. commonwealths, or to U.S. military addresses (APO, FPO).
